Berlin is Germany's gigantic capital and it's equipped with different ways of getting around the city easily, as well as getting around as quick as possible.

Public Transportation

Berlin's public transport is operated by BVG

The city of Berlin and the surrounding suburbs have been organized into three tariff zones A, B and C. You can buy tickets for the combined zones AB, BC or ABC, as needed. Adults pay regular fare; The reduced fare is valid for children aged 6 to 14. Children under 6 do not need tickets.

Zone A

Berlin's inner city up to and including the S-Bahn (urban rail) ring

Zone C

Greater Berlin area (approx. 15 km around the city of Berlin), including the City of Potsdam and Airport Berlin Schönefeld SFX

Zone B

outside the S-Bahn (urban rail) ring
up to the city boundary; Airport Berlin Tegel TXL is located in this zone.

The city's S-Bahn or Stadtbahn (city train) is the local rail which runs primarily above ground.

The U-Bahn (underground) operates mostly below ground within Berlin city limits (AB zone).

Bus stops can be found easily around the city.

Mostly in former East Berlin, trams travel at street-level, winding their way throughout the city.

Day Ticket

Valid for 1 person from purchase or on the day selected until 3:00 a.m. on the next day. Up to three children aged 6 to 14 can travel together with ticket holders aged at least 15.
